Guest Speaker
Dr Samantha Holdsworth
Associate Professor | Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences & Centre for Brain Research, University of Auckland CE/Research Director | Mātai Medical Research Institute, Tairāwhiti-Gisborne, New Zealand
Dr Samantha Holdsworth is an MRI physicist whose research focuses on developing novel MRI techniques to better understand brain health and disease.
After more than a decade at Stanford University, she returned to New Zealand to establish Mātai Medical Research Institute, where she now leads a number of collaborative imaging research projects with colleagues at the University of Auckland, Mātai, and partner institutions across New Zealand and internationally.
Dr Holdsworth’s work spans MRI physics, image processing and clinical translation, with a focus on developing innovative imaging methods that reveal information beyond that available with conventional MRI.
Dr Samantha Holdsworth’s talk will highlight some of the team’s current collaborative research, including amplified MRI to study brain biomechanics and ultra-high contrast MRI to improve the detection and characterisation of neurological disease. –
It is important that you register as soon as possible as spaces are limited, and numbers are required for catering and seating.
